Yatseniuk: abandoning the Geneva format of negotiations Russia offers Ukraine the second Abkhazia

According to Prime Minister, these are Russia and the Kremlin that have made Donetsk and Luhansk their hostages and lead to humanitarian catastrophe

Ukraine will not hold direct negotiation with terrorists and Russian mercenaries.

Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said this in his opening remark at governmental meeting.

He called on Russian to comply with Minsk agreements.

‘In response to Russian standard statements I would like to mention that this is a joint position of head of Ukrainian state and government that Geneva format is the best and the most effective format of negotiation. Russia is trying to push off this format by all means and forces and it offers us Abkhazia #2 at Ukrainian territory. We will not hold direct negotiation with terrorists! Follow Minsk agreements if you want peace. In order to achieve this peace we need the format that is acceptable for the whole world and for Ukraine in the first place. We need guarantees. That is why we insisted and continue insisting on necessity of implementation of all 12 points of Minsk agreements’, – Yatseniuk underlined.

According to him, these are Russia and the Kremlin that have made resident of Donetsk and Luhansk their hostages and are leading the situation to humanitarian catastrophe.

Previously Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called Geneva format of negotiations a passed stage.
