Ukrainian Armed Forces repel attacks of Russian-terrorist troops in zone of anti-terrorist operation

Spokesperson for Information and Analysis Center of National Security and Defense Council colonel Anfriy Lysenko reported this during daily press briefing in Kyiv.

Sub-units of the National Guard and Armed Forces of Ukraine have conducted a joint operation to unblock the checkpoint at the crossroads Zolote-Horoshe-Smila where there have been fights during 2 days. According to Andriy Lyseko Ukrainian militants used artillery and heavy military equipment to repel the attack. The enemy suffered substantial losses of equipment and manpower and was forced to retreat. In addition, the checkpoint of the forces of anti-terrorist operation was reinforced.

Ukrainian militants have repelled another attack at Donetsk airport. Before this fighters shelled positions of Ukrainian Armed Forces in the nearby settlements with mortars and artillery.

Experts register concentration of manpower and military equipment of illegal armed groups in some areas of anti-terrorist operation zone. In particular, in the north – Stanytsya Luhanska [Luhansk oblast], in direction to Avdiivka and Debaltsevo, and in the south – near Mariupol and in 2 regions of Donetsk oblast [see map above].

North of Luhansk oblast experiences disruption in supply of electricity due to constant shelling of Luhansk Thermal Power Plant.

In addition, terrorists shelled positions of Ukrainian Army near the settlement  of Debaltsevo with mortars and artillery. They used ‘Grad’ multiple rocket launcher system to shell another positons of UA Armed Forces – near the settlement of Chornukhino.

During the last day increased activity of terrorists in north-eastern direction from the town of Mariupol: they shelled positions of UA Armed Forces near the settlement of Talakivka and Sartana with mortars and ‘Grad’ multiple rocket launcher systems.

During the last day Ukrainian Armed Forces lost 3 servicemen, 9 more were wounded.
