April 11. Kyiv hopes that Moscow will hear it at a quadripartite meeting of foreign ministers of Ukraine, Russia, the U.S. and the EU to discuss ways to settle the crisis in Ukraine.
Director of the Information Policy Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Yevhen Perebyinis said this at a briefing on Friday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“The fact that it [the meeting – ed.] will be held in the presence of representatives of the EU and the U.S. just give us hope that, in any case, our position will be heard by the Russian side,” he said.
Perebyinis noted that it will be exactly the format of a meeting.
“It will not be negotiations, it will be a meeting. Negotiations mean the presence of some clear agenda and discussing specific issues. At this meeting it is planned that the parties at least to present their positions,” the diplomat said.
As Ukrinform reported, the meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of Ukraine, Russia and the United States, as well as EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton to discuss ways to resolve the crisis in Ukraine will be held April 17 in Geneva, Switzerland.
