Today during the regular meeting of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation Ukraine appealed to Russia demanding explains on how MANPADS “Igla” from the Russian military base torned out to be in the hands of pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine.
As UNIAN was reported in the Information Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the competent authorities of Ukraine received photo proof of Russian origin of MANPADS (man-portable air defense systems) used by terrorists in Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
Thus on June 6, after repelling of terrorist attack on checkpoint “Marinivka» (Donetsk region) in place of the fighting a box of products “9M39” (MANPADS “Igla”) was found. Wrapping paper that was in the box, indicating that these MANPADS had been stored in a military unit of Air Defence Forces of Russia № 33859 (Yeisk, Krasnodar Krai) since 2001. Last note on verification of their presence at the site warehousing / h number 33859 dated April 12, 2014. This is proved by the photographs.
Thus at April 12 these missiles were stored at a military base in Yeisk Armed Forces, and has been used by terrorists on June 6 in the assault at the checkpoint “Marinivka” at the Ukrainian-Russian border.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that the transfer of MANPADS to terrorists by Russian Federation not only reaffirms the facts of direct interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine and Russia’s support of terrorism as a phenomenon, but a gross violation of the international commitments of the Russian side to control the storage and transfer of MANPADS under the Wassenaar Arrangement – “Elements for export Control of man-portable air defense systems. “
