Valentina Matviyenko is going to support the joining of the Crimea to Russia.

The speaker of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko says that she will support the inclusion of the Crimea into the Russian Federation.
The reporter of the UNIAN of RF informes that she has made a statement about it on the meeting with the Head of the Parliament of the Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov.
“The Crimean parliament has chosen the most democratic form of the referendum as the supreme expression of people. I want responsibly declare on behalf of the upper chamber, which represents the interests of all regions of Russia: if the people of Crimea in the referendum show their will and decide on joining Russia we as the upper house of the Russian parliament, certainly will support such a decision, “- said Matvienko.
She believes that the Crimean parliament has the right to hold a referendum. According to her, the right of nations to self-determination has not been canceled and it is enshrined in the basic documents of the United Nations.
«The decision of the Parliament of ARC to hold a referendum is an internationally recognized practice. Enough to turn to the experience of Scotland, which announced a referendum in September,” – said Matvienko.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on the 6 of March that the All-Crimean parliament postponed the referendum on the status of autonomy from 30 of Mach to 16 of March. According to Sergei Tsekova the vice – speaker of parliament of autonomy, the referendum submitted two questions: “Do you support the reunification of the Crimea with Russia on the rights of the
subject,” and ” Are you for the resumption of the Constitution of Crimea in 1992, where Crimea is the part of Ukraine, but actually has the power of the separate state ?”.
Also, deputies of the Crimean parliament voted to join the Crimea to Russia.
At the same time, the CEC stated that Referendum in the Crimea has no legal basis. As the member of the Central Election Commission Yuri Donchenko stated in the comments of UNIAN, it is determined in the law on the national referendum, in its final and transitional provisions, that the law on local referendums ceized to be valid and the new law Verkhovna Rada has not yet developed.
Acting President of Ukraine, the Chairman of Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov on the 6 of March said that the Verkhovna
Rada will initiate the dissolution of the parliament of Crimea.
“We will protect the sanctity of our territory. We will defend the sovereignty of our country, ” – said Turchinov and expressed confidence that” the citizens of Ukraine residing in Crimea, will strongly contribute to this. ”
