Chronological history of EuroMaidan in 9 pictures
EuroMaidan began on November 21, 2013 as protest and patriotic action against corruption and willfulness of law enforcement and also to support European vector in Ukrainian foreign policy. There were a number of armed clashes of protestants with police and special forces (especially January 19, 22, February 18-20) in course of which about 100 protestants were killed (including shot by snipers).
The Revolution of Dignity ender in resignation of President Yanukovich and his escape to Rostov [Russia]. Since the beginning of conflict with Russia [annexation of Crimea and operation against DNR and LNR terrorists organizations] a lot of Maidan activists left the place to become soldiers of the National Guard or volunteer battalions.
Some activists continued to live on Maidan till the beginning of August. They aroused condemnation of Kyiv residents and even former Maidan activists due to their behaviour. It was frequently said that by their behaviour [activists lived rignt on Independence square, drank a lot, didn’t work and were quite aggressive towards the others] the remnants of Maidan activists spoiled the whole idea of Revolution of Dignity.
Finally the decision to clear Maidan up was adopted. After several clashes with police Maidan activists [including the Right Sector organization] managed to persuade people to live the place.
