General Prosecutor of Ukraine is investigating 28 criminal proceedings on charges of abuse of power and embezzlement of budget funds by the former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and other former officials.

The General Prosecutor's Office is investigating 28 cases of abuse of power by Yanukovych and other former government officials

UNIAN correspondent: The news was reported by Acting General Prosecutor of Ukraine Oleg Mahnitskyy today at a briefing in Kiev.

According to him, in these proceedings appear the son of ex-president Alexander Yanukovych, former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov, First Deputy Prime Minister Andriy Klyuyev, National Bank Chairman Serhiy Arbuzov, Minister of Agrarian Policy Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych, Olena Lukash and other high officials.

As Mahnitskyy noted losses to the state budget of Ukraine caused by these persons consist of billions of hryvnias.

He said that among the criminal proceedings is a matter of exclusion from state ownership of 136 acres of land on which the residence of Yanukovich “Mezhyhirya” is situated, and of over 30 thousand hectares of land in the village Sukholuchye, where there is a hunting farm of ex-president.
