Subversive group detained in Mariupol

Spokesperson for Information and Analytical centre of National Security and Defense Council colonel Andriy Lysenko reported this during daily press briefing in Kyiv.

Yesterday terrorists and Russian mercenaries carried out artillery shelling of residential districts of the city. The city administration reports about victims among civilians. Several residential buildings were damaged as the result of the shelling, numerous fire emerged.

Representative of special monitoring mission of OSCE were under shelling yesterday. They were patrolling several districts of Donetsk. Shelling made them terminate their work preliminary.

United forces of the anti-terrorist operation continue to strengthen fortifications in Mariupol [Donetsk oblast]. Volunteers and local resident actively help Ukrainian militants.

As a result of special operation counterintelligence of Ukrainian Security Service detained members of subversive group in Mariupol – Russian citizen Aniskin, 2 Ukrainian citizens (man and woman). The detained planned saboteurs at strategic objects in Mariupol in order to destabilize situation in the city and spread panic among locals.

It was determined that the group received orders for leader of terrorist organization DNR and representative of Federal Security Service of Russian Federation. During seizure Security Service of Ukraine found 4 AK-74, large number of ammunition, 4 flamethrowers RPO-A ‘Shmel’, 3 grenade launchers RPG-22 and 2 mines with detonators.

Operative and investigative procedures are in progress.
