Situation in Eastern Ukraine on April 28

April 28 in zone of anti-terrorist operation was restless as well as previous days.

In general, in period from midnight of April 28 to midnight of April 29 positions of Ukrainian Forces were shelled about 60 times, there were two armed clashes.


From midnight to 06.00 pm, April 28

The first part of the day was marked by 30 cases of shelling carried out by Russia-backed forces in Eastern Ukraine. Illegal armed groups used small arms, automatic grenade launchers, mortars and self-propelled artillery systems.

In addition, press service of anti-terrorist operation informs about shelling of Ukrainian positions near settlements of Orlovske, Granitne, Leninske, Artemovo, Opytne and Pisky with mortars of 120 mm caliber.

We remind that usage of this heavy weapon is prohibited by Minsk agreements signed in February. This weapon should have already been withdrawn at safe distance from demarcation line.

From 00.30 to 01.15 there were two armed clashes between Ukrainian and terrorist forces near settlement of Pavlopol. Ukrainian servicemen forced the enemy to retreat by dense firing.

Flights of 9 drones were registered in the skies above Mariupol.


From 06.00 pm to midnight

Situation in Eastern Ukraine on April 28

Situation during another part of the day wasn’t better.

Positions of Ukrainian Armed Forces suffered 29 cases of shelling.

Terrorists shelled settlement of Chermalyk and Shchastya. At about 06.00 pm the enemy used multiple rocket launcher system ‘Grad’ to shell Ukrainian positions near Avdiivka.

Shelling of village of Chermalyk with grenade launchers and 82 mm mortars killed one civilian. The local died during shelling of his house.

Russia-backed forces kept using mortar of 120 mm caliber that is prohibited by Minsk agreements. Positions of Ukrainian forces near 6 settlements were shelled with this weapon. Terrorists also used tank one.

In addition, terrorists used 120 mm mortar, automatic grenade launchers and sniper rifles to shell thermal power plant in town of Shchastya.

Flights of 15 drones were registered in the skies of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.
