Shelling in Donetsk sector and half-empty humanitarian aid trucks

Situation in ATO zone is most tense in Mariupol sector

During the previous day fighters significantly reduced their activity in the East of Ukraine. Donetsk sector suffered the largest number of shellings.

Unian reports this with reference to press service of anti-terrorist operation.

Russia-backed fighters traditionally used heavy weapons such as mortars of 82 and 120 mm caliber, artillery of 122 and 152 calibers.

They again shelled such settlements as Krasnogorivka, Troitske, Starognativka, Bogdanivka and others.

In total, 67 cases of ceasefire violations were registered on August 20. 51 cases were registered near Donetsk city. From midnight to 06.00 am intensity of armed provocations increased.

Humanitarian populism

Shelling in Donetsk sector and half-empty humanitarian aid trucks

Yesterday, on August 20, the humanitarian convoy #36 entered Ukrainian territory.

Unian reports this with reference to assistant to head of State Border Service of Ukraine Oleg Slobodyan.

Due to gross violation of international norms by Russia, neither Ukrainian customs service officers nor representatives of International Committee of the Red Cross could examine content of the trucks. They could only conduct visual examination of 105 ‘humanitarian’ trucks.

According to customs service, peculiar feature of this convoy is that trucks were half-empty, which indicates populism of the event.
