Russia activates combat aviation on the border with Ukraine

Deputy Head of Information and Analysis Center of National Security and Defense Council Volodymyr Polyoviy informed this during press briefing in Kyiv.

According to reconnaissance data, there is an activation of Russian combat aviation on border with Ukraine. For example, there were registered numerous landings of transport aircrafts IL-76 with unknown load at a military airfield in Rostov-on-Don [this region borders with Eastern Ukraine].

Volodymyr Polyoviy underlined that Russian Federation started increasing combat potential of its air forces in the occupied Crimea illegally using Aerodrome network of Ukrainian Armed Forces.

For example, Russian paratrooper units were reinforced with MI-24 helicopters and military cargo aircrafts.

Mr.Polyoviy mentioned that since early January up to 50 units of attack helicopters were located at military airfield in Dzhankoy [Crimean peninsula]. Separate regiment of drones is being created in Black Sea Fleet naval aviation.

These days naval aviation of Russian Black Sea Fleet is conducting combat trainings flights with launching of rockets. All airfields if Russian Black Sea naval aviation are involved.
