Recognize Savchenko’s immunity

Lawyers want to force the investigators to recognize PACE immunity of Nadia Savchenko.

Defenders of Ukrainian pilot and Member of Parliament Nadia Savchenko filed complaint to the Basmanny court of Moscow to refusal of Investigation Committee of Russian Federation to recognize her immunity as member of Ukrainian parliamentary delegation to PACE.

Lawyer of Savchenko Mykola Polozov informed this in twitter.

Lawyers filed complaint and wait for determining the date of meeting.

We remind that Nadia Savchenko was kidnapped by fighters in summer 2014 and then she was transported to Russia. In Russian Federation Savchenko was accused of involvement in murder of two Russian journalists in Donbas. According to data provided by her lawyers, Savchenko cannot be involved in murder of journalists because she has already been kept hostage for some time before their death.

On October 26, 2014 during preliminary parliamentary elections Nadia Savchenko was elected a deputy in the list of ‘Motherland’ party. Verkhovna Rada delegated Nadia Savchenko to PACE.

On December 15, 2014 Nadia Savchenko started hunger strike against her illegal imprisonment.

In late January this year investigators of Savchenko’s case informed about starting new criminal case against her- for illegal border crossing. It should be mentioned that initially investigators claimed that Savchenko entered Russian territory as a refugee.

On February 25, 2015 Moscow court supported decision of Basmanny court to keep Savchenko under arrest till May 13.
