Public activist Maria Tomak says that one of the women prisoners was cut with a knife by militants – in particular in the area of the breast
Social activists have documented many cases where women prisoners were tortured with as equal violence as men. As reports Radio Liberty this was informed by a representative of Public Freedom Centre Mariya Tomak in the broadcast of the program “We are together”.
According to activist recently she was talking with two women who had been tortured by armed separatists. Tomak said that one of them was mercilessly beaten, another – cut with a knife, in particular in the area of the chest. The attackers accused the women of being involved in ‘the right sector’ and activity in the Maydan. Tortures were officially confirmed by Kiev doctors after the release of both captives.
Maria TOMAK notes that mostly women being in the ATO zone, especially those who help Ukrainian army (provide food or ammunition, give medical aid) are at risk of being captured. Active women who don’t hide their pro-Ukrainian positiona are also at risk.
