Victims of communism in Ukraine. Post-soviet legacy

 Post-soviet legacy

After USSR broke apart and the information curtain fell down, the world could see the dual character of the communist regime that controlled Ukraine. For decades, the lofty image of Union of the Soviet Socialistic Republics concealed the nightmare that Ukrainian people suffered: millions of deaths, famine, genocide and persecutions.

The final number of communist victims is hard to find out, but even the approximate estimations strike greatly.

The events in 2013-2014 have marked a new period in the history of our state. Let us hope that after more than 20 years of independence we are moving towards becoming prosperous European state.
