OSCE Chairman informs about plans to increase number of observers and armoured vehicles in Ukraine

Spokesperson for Information and Analysis Center of National Security and Defense Council colonel Anfriy Lysenko reported this during daily press briefing in Kyiv.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has had a meeting with the Chairman of the Special Monitoring Mission of Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe [OSCE] Ertugrul Apakan.

The head of state mentioned importance of expansion of work of the mission in Ukraine. In particular, he offered to study the possibility of further increasing of number of observers up to 1500.

In addition, Petro Poroshenko called for increased use of modern technology in monitoring of the situation.

From his side, the Chaiman of the monitoring mission informed about plans to reinforce monitoring and control of ceasefire regime and Ukrainian-Russian border. Ertugrul Apakan informed that the number of observers would soon be increased. There is also plan to increase number of armoured vehicles.

The mission plans to gradually move its sub-units directly to Ukrainian-Russian border.
