Nadia Savchenko refused to stop hunger strike again. Ukrainian pilot and MP Nadia Savchenko has already got disruption of functions of some organs after more than 2 months of hunger strike.
Member of public supervisory commission Valeriy Borshchov informed this.
He mentioned that such a long hunger strike is of great concern because it cannot pas unnoticed. Nadia Savchenko has got troubles with kidneys and gallbladder. She said that doctors monitor her state and make ultrasound watch. However, there is definitely risk of complications. The public supervisor underlined that this hunger strike is very long, however, Nadia Savchenko is strong. She talked cheerfully to supervisors.
Mr. Morshchov mentioned that she had again refused to stop her hunger strike.
She refused even when activists gave her example of tragic hunger death of soviet dissident Anatoliy Marchenko who died in 1968 after long starvation.
On February 20, 2015 Nadia Savchenko was examined by Russian doctors. They identified her health as satisfactory but called on Savchenko to stop the strike.
Before this Savchenko’s lawyer Nikolai Polozov informed that she had refused glucose injections. According to Savchenko’s sister Vera, Nadia drinks only water and her body weight decreased by 26%.
On December 13, 2014 Nadia Savchenko announced hunger strike. On January 29, 2015 she was transferred to the medical unit in prison.
In Russia Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko is accused of involvement in death of Russian journalists in Donbas. In late June terrorists kidnapped her and transported across Russian border. After that Savchenko was imprisoned and criminal case was filed. According to data provided by her lawyers, Savchenko couldn’t be involved in murder of journalists because she had been captured before their death.
In late January investigators of Moscow court opened new criminal case against Nadia Savchenko – she was accused of illegal border crossing. It should be mentioned that in autumn the investigators claimed that Nadia Savchenko had crossed Russian border as refugee.
