Motherland Monument in Kiev has been decorated with wreath of red poppies – new symbol of victory day in Ukraine.
The monument to Motherland stands in Kyiv museum of Great Patriotic War and is visible from every part of Ukrainian capital. This morning locals noticed that the monument has been decorated with wreath of red poppies.
This was done by climber under nickname of Mustang Wanted and his friends. This Ukrainian citizen is also well known for having painted star on the top of skyscraper in Moscow in blue color. In addition, he raised Ukrainian flag at the top of the building. This happened in August 2014.
Mustang was awarded with Commemorative Fire-arm by the president.
This time roofer decorated one of the most noticeable monuments in Kyiv.
After doing this he met with president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and UN secretary Ban Ki Moon.
According to Mustang, they did so to commemorate 70th anniversary of Victory Day and honor Ukrainian role in it.
The previous year the Motherland Monument glowed with the colors of Ukrainian flag.
Officials said that the monument will not be toppled within framework of decomunization in Ukraine. They will only remove symbol of USSR from the shield.
