June 24, 2014
As the result the decision to cease fire has been supported and a dialogue about the release of hostages has been started.
Also, the parties reached an agreement on cooperation with the OSCE, the admission of observers, including ones from Russia to checkpoints, holding a set of humanitarian action (renewal of water supply pipeline, power supply of cities of Donetsk and Luhansk regions). In addition, it was agreed to hold the next meeting of the Trilateral contact group in the near future.
Poroshenko is convinced that the consent of the separatists for the four-day cease-fire as part of the peace plan gives hope to restore peaceful life in eastern Ukraine. At the same time, the President noted that during the 23 June ceasefire has not yet been performed, indicating the absence of a single center of decision making and coordination among militants.
Poroshenko reiterated the readiness of the Ukrainian side to fulfill all points of the peace plan, stressing the need to rebuild the economy of Donbass, creating jobs by rebuilding homes for those who lost it.
Leonid Kuchma assured President Poroshenko to use all his influence to reach compromise for the sake of the future of Ukraine and a complete cessation of violence in its territory.
