In case full-scale hostilities in Eastern Ukraine resume veterans of anti-terrorist operation will return to armed forces in matter of hours.
Spokesperson of the General Staff Vladyslav Selezniov informed this.
According to him, the first part of military reserve will be formed of demobilized soldiers. According to the law ‘On amendments to Law of Ukraine on military duty and military service’ which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on March 19, 2015, till the end of special period all demobilized soldiers will have rights and duties of reservists and in case of necessity they will have to arrive to military units on request of commanders.
General Staff spokesperson said that this step is necessary to strengthen defense capability of Ukraine which despite the strict implementation of Minsk agreements and desire for peaceful regulation of situation must be ready for any scenario.
‘If full-scale hostilities are deployed against Ukraine, veterans with extensive war experience will return to troops in matter of hours and they will take certain defense positions. In this way Ukrainian army with quickly strengthen our defense’, – Selezviov said.
