Budapest Memorandum – 20 years after

20 years ago Ukraine disposed of the third world’s largest nuclear arsenal. Our country had 176 missiles and 1272 warheads. By signing Budapest Memorandum Ukraine surrendered huge nuclear arsenal in exchange for security assurances from the USA, the UK and Russia.

Twenty years later, one of signing parties violated the agreement. Russia invaded Crimean Peninsula and annexed it after an illegal referendum.

Russian Federation continues to threaten territorial integrity of Ukraine by destabilization of situation in Eastern region.

Previously we have reported that, according to the last report of ATO press service, ceasefire regime has been imposed at all positions of Ukrainian Armed Forces in the conflict zone.
