Spokesperson for Information and Analysis Center of National Security and Defense Council colonel Andriy Lysenko reported this during daily press briefing in Kyiv.
This morning there began a battle between Ukrainian Armed Forces and Russian-terrorist troops near the settlement of Bakhmutivka in Luhansk oblast. Terrorists tried to take control over the checkpoints of the ATO forces.
On the moment of delivery of this report, additional armed forces went to reinforce Ukrainian militants in this location and help them destroy terrorists.
Press service of ATO reported that the situation was difficult but controlled. Another Ukrainian media has reported that the forces that attacked Ukrainian militants were units of Russian Cossacks that allegedly are not controlled by leader of LNR [Luhansk People’s Republic].
Terrorists continue to violate ceasefire regime. Their activity is mostly concentrated in the area of Donetsk airport, Debaltsevo and Shchastya [for more detailed information see the map above].
The positions of Ukrainian militants in Donetsk airport were shelled 4 times. Terrorists used mortars and artillery. Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 2 attempt of an assault. In the area of Debaltsevo UA militants repelled attack at the base camp of anti-terrorist operation. The attacks took place after artillery shelling.
According to operative data, pro-Russian fighters are relocating their manpower and military equipment. In addition, they spread rumors about preparation of attacks at Debaltsevo, Mariupol, Avdiivka [Donetsk oblast] and Lysyschansk, Severodonetsk, Shchastya [Luhansk oblast]. Ukrainian Armed Forces control all of the mentioned locations.
