Artillery shelling in Donetsk, separatists release 73 hostages

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and German chancellor Angela Merkel discussed violation of ceasefire on Sunday, September 14. In course of telephone conversation, they expressed preoccupation concerning facts of violation of the ceasefire regime in Donbas and also agreed to put more efforts in further peaceful regulation of conflict in the region.

Parliamentary election in Crimea

On September 14, 2014 parliamentary election took place in Crimea. According to occupation authorities there were no serious violation during the elections. Although election committee registered a large number of appeals form people who couldn’t find themselves in election lists. There were no international observers in elections in Sevastopol.

It was also informed that Crimean Tatars boycotted the elections.

According to preliminary results, current governors took leading positions in the elections. All of them – representatives of ‘Yedinaya Rossiya’ [Unified Russia – leading Russian political party led by Putin and his supporters].

Poland is ready to sell gas to Ukraine

Poland along with other European states will sell gas to Ukraine. Advisor of president of Poland Tomash Nalench reported this. He also expressed his believe that restriction in gas supply from Russia to Poland is a threat to Poland, not to Ukraine.

Separatists released 73 Ukrainian militants

On Sunday September 14, separatists released 73 hostages. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko informed this. Previously media reported about five released militants.

Artillery shelling in Donetsk city

The night of September 14 passed without active hostilities, there were only periodic shots. During the day there was shelling of 2 districts of the city. The city administration called the situation critical and informed about victims among civilians. The sounds of volleys didn’t stop during the whole day.

The spokesperson of the anti-terrorist operation Oleksiy Dmytrashkivskiy informed that positions of Ukrainian armed forces were shelled twice – near the settlement of Popasna [Luhansk oblast] and Donetsk airport.
